Memorizing Scripture on the way to Austin

April 1, 2009

I’m challenging myself to memorize 2nd Timothy.  I started yesterday.  I put 16 verses on index cards and then held them up by the steering wheel while I was driving to Austin and back.  It worked but I wouldn’t recommend the method. It was just a tad safer than driving while being on a cell phone.

Seriously, I had a wonderful time memorizing the scripture.  I have done lots of drama at my church and so it felt like memorizing a script.  The more I got into the memorization, the more I began to understand the author’s intent.  The scripture came alive as I spoke it out loud.

I’m going to keep memorizing the book, just not while I’m driving!

Try your iPod with earbuds next time. Heck, people learn French and Spanish with it.

Maybe you can throw in the Hebrew version of the Bible and impress the heck out of your pastor and friends.

Either way, be safe. We need you.

I like the iPod idea. I looked for an App for my iPhone but there isn’t one that I can put in the verses I want to memorize. I’m wondering if I could use some type of flash card App. Of course, I wouldn’t use it while driving. 😉
