Sunday, July 5th

July 8, 2009

Since today was Sunday, we didn’t go out to minister.  Instead we had a Sunday morning church service and then gave the kids some time off in the afternoon.  During the service Susie had Dick and I participate in a reader’s theatre entitled “Princess Amanda and the Dragon” by David and Karen Mains.  It describes how we get entangled with sin without realizing the dangerous consequences until it may be too late.

Even though we didn’t go out to minister, we still had peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for lunch.  We went to the pool area to make our sandwiches.  The hotel hired an actor to portray Charlie Chaplin.  We first noticed him on the slide.  He then came down and sat near our table.

We got some pictures with him.  He acted and looked just like him!

Some of us went into Antigua to do some shopping. Today wasn’t a scheduled shopping day, that is Saturday, but it gave us a chance to scope out the shops to see where we wanted to go on Saturday. I also got a chance to hangout with my daughter, Stephanie, who is also on this trip but is on another team.  She is WAY better at bargaining then I am.  She helped me get the price of a nativity set down to $10.00.  I collect nativity sets from foreign countries.  There weren’t very many to choose from but I like the one I purchased.

After FUAGNEM there was a talent show called, “Talent Only Your Mother Would Love”.  This is the kind of talent that you wouldn’t find on “America’s Got Talent”!  This is weird talent.  One guy was able to lick his elbow in two positions, front and back. One girl sang “The Sun Will Come Out” without opening her mouth (it was good, too!).  Susie found out that Dick (my husband) can lip-sync the “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen.  To kick the show off, she surprised him and asked him to come on stage to sing it.   It was great!  The kids loved it, and all the adults were standing up in the back singing along with him.

We had a group of girls who entered the competition lip-syncing Miley Cyrus’s song, “Nobody’s Perfect”.  All but one of the girls performed it straight but Tiffany was just a little off and less than perfect.  They were hilarious.  Team 6 was robbed!  We should have won the competition!  Of course, I’m not biased or anything! 😉

On Sunday afternoon and evening the kids could choose two seminars to attend.  One of the options was learning how to make balloon animals. The object is to use these to grab the attention of the children in the crowds on the streets.
